Sarah Elliott, Board Member and Board President

Sarah is the Board President at Headwaters Academy. She combines her passion for education, food, and agriculture to create impactful learning experiences. With a career spanning roles at the Northern Illinois Food Bank and USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), Sarah has dedicated her professional life to supporting child nutrition programs and fostering a deeper connection to food systems.

Sarah holds an undergraduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Her academic foundation in social work informs her leadership style and her commitment to building strong, equitable communities. 

A lifelong gardener, Sarah has kept chickens for nine years, bringing hands-on expertise in sustainable practices and food production to her work. As a mother to three daughters, Ruby, Hazel and Violet, she values community, resilience, and education rooted in the natural world.
